Global Equity Analyst/Portfolio Manager

Cadence Asset Management is a top performing boutique equities Fund Manager based in Sydney, Australia. Cadence has experienced strong growth since its inception in 2003 and is looking for a high calibre investment professional to assist with its International investments on a long/short basis (open mandate). This is an opportunity to play a significant role in a dynamic investment team within a growing business.

The Cadence investment process uses both fundamental and technical analysis to make investment decisions. The successful candidate(s) will need to comply with Cadence’s investment process and therefore should demonstrate they understand it and are comfortable with it.

The role offers attractive performance-related remuneration.

The role

The key responsibilities of the role include:

  • original investment idea generation
  • arranging and attending company meetings
  • conducting detailed fundamental analysis
  • production of models and stock profiles

Experience and attributes

The successful applicant(s) will:

  • ideally have 4- 5 years’ experience in equities investing globally
  • possess a strong sense of commercial acumen
  • be highly numerate with strong fundamental modelling skills
  • be hard working and ambitious
  • have strong verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to articulate difficult concepts clearly and concisely
  • have strong interpersonal skills
  • show initiative and be self-directed, highly motivated and able to operate in a small team
  • enjoy working in a fast paced and dynamic environment

Dealer / Sales Trader

This is an opportunity to play a significant role in a dynamic investment team within a growing business.

The Cadence Capital investment process uses a combination of fundamental and technical research. The Dealer / Sales Trader will benefit from the team’s fundamental and technical research and as such will need to be conversant with all aspects of fundamental and technical equities research.

Remuneration will be based on a base wage as well as bonuses based on generating above market returns.

The role

The key responsibilities of the role include:

  • Executing buy, sell and short sell orders for the Cadence Capital Funds
  • Synthesizing external and internal research to cultivate a list of stocks that meet the Cadence Capital Criteria
  • Closely monitoring and developing a trading strategy for the short-listed stocks that meet the Cadence Criteria
  • Developing screens to monitor Change in Substantial notices, New Highs and Lows, change in earnings for Broker recommendations, buy back and percentage buy back screens
  • Developing and running local and international screens to capture potential long and short lists of domestic and international stocks that meet the Cadence Capital criteria
  • Monitoring and liaising with brokers to track price and volume variance in order execution

 

Experience and attributes

The successful applicant(s) will

  • have a successful history of order execution or dealing/ trading in Australian and/or International equities,
  • have excellent attention to detail and a good understanding of equities,
  • be self-motivated and able to operate autonomously as well as being able to operate in our tight knit team
  • be hard working and ambitious,
  • suit someone on either the ‘buy’ or ‘sell’ side looking to develop broader skills and ultimately assume responsibility for generating higher than market risk-adjusted returns.

  11. What are the market related, technical or fundamental factors you are looking for when searching for trading opportunities?
  12. What is your best trading idea now, long or short? Why?
