The Elon Musk biography is a fascinating insight into the CEO of both Tesla and Space X. Ever since childhood Elon has been fascinated by space and believes that it is essential for humans to live on mars so that if earth becomes uninhabitable the human race will not become extinct. He leads both Space X and Tesla with a level of obsession that few CEOs could match, and expects his employees to be 100% on board with the company’s goals.
Tesla is one of the most shorted stocks in the US at the moment (April 2018). Long investors are believers in the grand plan for Tesla to change the world by introducing mass market electric cars that are better than comparable petrol cars at a similar price. Short investors believe that the share price has risen too far too soon, and that most other car makers will soon be making electric cars that will be comparable to Tesla cars. Tesla’s market capitalisation is similar to General Motors, even though GM currently produces about 100 cars for every Tesla produced. By the end of 2018 we should know if Tesla can produce and sell large numbers of Model 3 cars at a profit. We look forward to the sequel of this excellent book!
